Pune: In a stern warning to government officials, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar emphasized the importance of swiftly addressing public grievances during the Democracy Day sessions, organized to ensure timely resolution of citizens’ complaints.
He stressed that officials must take these issues seriously and follow the orders given during hearings with prompt action. Any delay or negligence in resolving public complaints will result in strict administrative action against the responsible officials.
The warning came during a hearing session at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, where unresolved cases from the district-level Democracy Day were reviewed.
Senior officials, including Inspector General of Police Sunil Fulari, Deputy Commissioner of Revenue Annasaheb Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Administration Poonam Mehta, and Assistant Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department R. Y. Patil, were present.
During the session, Dr. Pulkundwar reviewed three specific cases that had not been resolved during district-level hearings. He personally listened to the petitioners and directed the concerned officers to take immediate action to resolve their issues.
He expressed concern over the need for citizens to bring district-level issues to the divisional level, stating that such matters should be efficiently resolved by the district administration itself.
He reiterated that any negligence in resolving public complaints will not be tolerated and that officers failing in their duties will be held personally accountable.
Dr. Pulkundwar also reminded the officials of the core purpose of Democracy Day – to provide the general public with a platform for resolving their issues without delays. The presence of multiple department-level officers further emphasized the importance of the day’s proceedings.
