Pune: Continuous heavy rains have led to significant disruptions, with the main road to Lavasa City collapsing at Temghar Ghat in Mulshi Taluka, and the embankment of Paragaon Bridge in Daund Taluka giving way, causing traffic to come to a standstill on these key routes.

The road to Lavasa City suffered major damage due to the persistent rain over the past four to five days. The inner part of one side of the road at Temghar Ghat has eroded, causing more than half of the road to collapse.

Large cracks have appeared in several sections, prompting authorities to close the road to traffic. Efforts by the Mulshi Public Works Department and local administration to construct an alternative route are underway, but the road will remain closed for the next 12 to 15 hours.

The heavy rainfall continues to pose challenges in creating the alternative route, with the Public Works Department working alongside local villagers to address the issue.

The sudden road collapse has trapped many residents and tourists in Lavasa, and the road is expected to remain closed for several days. Tehsildar Ranjit Bhosale has urged tourists to avoid traveling to Lavasa City during this time.

Similarly, the embankment of Paragaon Bridge in Daund Taluka collapsed due to the heavy rains, leading to the closure of the Shirur-Satara route.

The bridge has been closed since Thursday night as a precautionary measure, with police deployed at the site to ensure safety. The collapse of the embankment and the gradual erosion from water flow necessitated the traffic halt.
