Pune: Directors of Samrat Ashok Club and Resorts are facing serious fraud charges after allegedly using the name of a woman who died a decade earlier to create a guarantee letter, obtain a power of attorney, and subsequently purchase land.
Ashok Misrilal Khivansara, a resident of Modibag, Ganeshkhind Road, has been named in the case. The complaint was lodged by Sub-Registrar Bapu Jamdade at the Lonavala City Police Station.
According to police information, the land in question is located in Varsoli, Plot No. 113/2, covering an area of 4 hectares.
The property transfer involved Satyavati Baijnath Gupta, Shilavati Vadharama Gupta, and Brijrani Ramprasad Gupta, with power of attorney holder Prakash Samptakumar Dugad and Ashok Misrilal Khivansara transferring it to Ashok Misrilal Khivansara, Director of Samrat Ashok Clubs and Resorts. The document was registered on December 1, 2007.
Nisha Prakash Rakhyani (resident of Pimpri), the power of attorney holder on behalf of Suresh Mangilal Jain, filed a complaint at the Lonavala Sub-Registrar office.
The Sub-Registrar's office issued notices to all parties involved, asking them to present their statements. Since Khivansara's statements appeared inconsistent, the Sub-Registrar's office initiated an investigation.
It was found that Shilavati Vadharama Gupta had passed away on November 13, 1997, in Mumbai. Ten years later, a false guarantee letter was created and attached in her name.
Based on the District Registrar's orders, a complaint has been filed, and the Lonavala City Police are investigating.
