Pune: A deeply disturbing case has surfaced in Pune, where a 45-year-old school van driver has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
The accused, identified as Sanjay Jetting Reddy, a resident of Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar, was taken into custody by Wanawadi Police. A case has been registered against him under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The horrific incident came to light when the young victim, a student of a local school, reported the abuse to her father four days ago after returning home from school.
She confided that “Sanjay Uncle,” who drove the school van, had engaged in inappropriate and indecent acts. The child also revealed that her friend, another girl who was transported in the same van, had suffered similar inappropriate behavior.
The following day, the victim’s father took swift action by confronting the parents of the other girl, who confirmed that their daughter had also experienced misconduct at the hands of the van driver. After gathering information, both families approached the police to file an official complaint.
Wanawadi Police quickly initiated an investigation, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Godse and Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange.
The authorities wasted no time in arresting Reddy, and he was formally charged under the POCSO Act, a law designed to protect minors from sexual offenses. Police Sub-Inspector Devdhar is currently leading the investigation.
