Schools Closed for Three Days Due to Assembly Election Voting Next Week

Teachers are involved in the election process, and many polling stations are also located in schools. Election authorities take over schools concerned before polling day.

Pune: The state will go to polls on Wednesday (November 20) for the upcoming Assembly elections.

In this regard, the education department has directed the principal of the school to give necessary instructions to take the decision to close the school as it is not possible to hold the school between Monday (18th) and Wednesday (20th) due to the election duty of the teachers.

Teachers are heavily involved in the functioning of the election process, and many polling stations are also located in schools.

The election authorities take over the schools concerned before polling day to make necessary preparations for in-person voting.

In view of this, the Education Commissionerate had submitted a proposal to the Education Department to give a holiday to schools from Monday to Wednesday next week.

According to the proposal, Tushar Mahajan, deputy secretary of the education department, has issued an order to give a holiday to schools during this period.

In order to ensure smooth conduct of assembly elections 2024 in the state, the principal of the school concerned should give necessary instructions to take a decision to close the school in places where it is not possible to hold the school due to the election duty of the teachers.
