Pune: BJP senior leader and Home Minister Amit Shah's recent comment branding Sharad Pawar as the "Corruption Ka Sardar" has sparked a strong reaction from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Vilas Lande, a former MLA from the Ajit Pawar faction, warned that such remarks could adversely impact the BJP in the upcoming state assembly elections.

During a BJP workers' meet in Pune's Balewadi, Amit Shah criticized NCP leader Sharad Pawar, calling him the "Corruption Ka Sardar." This has unsettled NCP leaders and workers.

Vilas Lande, a prominent figure in the Ajit Pawar faction, responded by announcing his intention to write a letter to BJP's senior leadership.

"As dedicated workers, we believe such comments are inappropriate. Similar remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past had repercussions in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP should correct this mistake. Excessive criticism of Sharad Pawar, who is 84 years old, could backfire in the state assembly elections," Lande stated.

Lande stressed that while he bears no personal grudge, Sharad Pawar is regarded as an idol by many. He emphasized that continuous criticism of such a respected figure could harm BJP's prospects.

"I will be writing to the BJP's central executive committee to urge restraint in such matters. Amit Shah, being a senior leader, should understand that such criticism will not be well-received by NCP workers in the upcoming elections," he added.

Both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar have made significant contributions to Maharashtra, and their leadership is valued by their followers. Criticizing them might alienate dedicated NCP workers and supporters, warned Lande.
