Shirur Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor Den; Seize,Destroy Stock Worth ₹1.54 Lakh

Police have urged residents to report any knowledge of illegal liquor production, ensuring that informants' identities will be kept confidential.

Pune: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor production, Shirur police raided a local liquor den in the Kawathe Yamai area, seizing illicit liquor, chemicals, toddy, and equipment valued at ₹1.54 lakh.

Acting on a tip about illegal liquor production and sales in the area, the police took immediate action.

The raid, led by Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale and supported by constables Bhavar, Sangle, Sudrik, Rawade, and Sachin Bhoi, targeted an illegal liquor operation run by two individuals, Akshay Balu Devkar and Sagar Ganpat Gandagul, both residents of Kawathe Yamai.

Police found Devkar and Gandagul producing liquor along the Ghodnadi riverbed.

During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated a large amount of local liquor, toddy, and chemicals used in the production process. All seized items were destroyed on-site.

The raid was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopade, and Sub-Divisional Officer Prashant Dhole. Police Sub-Inspector Dilip Pawar is leading the investigation.

Recently, an illegal liquor distillery operating in Santosh Nagar, Kalepadal, was raided by Kalepadal Police, resulting in the seizure of 3,045 liters of country-made liquor valued at ₹8.72 lakh.

Police also confiscated a car used to transport the illegal liquor. Two individuals, Satish Prakash Kacharawat (42) and Manesh Prakash Kacharawat (35), both residents of Santosh Nagar, Kanjarbhat area, Mahamadwadi Road, have been arrested in connection with the illegal operation and are facing charges.
