Pune: In a significant development in the Kalyaninagar Porsche car accident case, senior lawyer Shishir Hiray has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor.

Hiray has successfully petitioned the court to conduct an identification parade test for Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, accused of tampering with blood samples to destroy evidence. The court has granted this request.

After the accident, there was a crucial meeting between the Agarwal couple and Ashpak Makandar to tamper with a minor's blood samples before the medical examination. This was done to destroy evidence. CCTV footage and witness statements have confirmed Makandar's presence at Sassoon Hospital, Yerawada Police Station, and the Juvenile Justice Board during the tampering of the blood samples.

Of the four lakh rupees taken by Makandar for the doctors to alter the blood samples, three lakh rupees have been seized from Dr. Shrihari Halanor.

The recipient of the remaining one lakh rupees remains unknown. All the accused have been remanded to custody. Meanwhile, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, Vishal Agarwal, Shivani Agarwal, and Amar Gaikwad have applied for bail. Ashpak Makandar, who withdrew his bail application on June 27, has reapplied, and the bail hearing took place on Friday.

Investigations had revealed that Ashpak Makandar and Dr. Ajay Taware, forensic sciences department head at Sassoon General Hospital, were in touch for five months and had conversation over 70 calls between them.

The police have filed an application to add charges under Sections 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 109 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.

Investigating officer Ganesh Ingle has requested more time to submit a written statement regarding the bail applications of Vishal Agarwal and Ashpak Makandar.
