Pune: Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, proposed the formation of patrol teams in villages consisting of young women trained in judo and karate, as well as young men known for their good conduct. This initiative aims to instill a sense of security among women and girls in rural areas.
During her visit to Wagholi, Dr. Gorhe met with several public Ganpati Mandals and engaged with beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Ladki Bahin Yojana at their homes. She emphasized that while courts do impose penalties on perpetrators of crimes against women, these actions often go unnoticed in the media.
She highlighted the need for societal change, particularly in male attitudes towards women, and advocated for the creation of patrol teams to actively monitor and prevent such crimes.
Among those present at the event were Shirur Lok Sabha contact head Sarika Pawar, district chief Manisha Parande, Sarika Ghate, Kunda Satav, Vinita Chaudhary, and Manisha Salunke. Dr. Gorhe’s visit also included interactions with beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, such as Archana Mohite, Pooja Patre, Archana Madne, and Kavita Kale.
She inquired about their awareness of the scheme, the application process, and how they utilized the funds. Many of the beneficiaries reported using the funds for their children’s education. Dr. Gorhe suggested they form savings groups to maximize the use of the funds.
Dr. Gorhe also paid visits to the Wagheshwar Youth Mandal and Tejaswini Institution and discussed local traffic congestion issues with Lonikand police officials.

Directed the transport authorities to install traffic signals at key intersections in rural areas, similar to urban settings.
Reassured that the Chief Minister would conduct a joint meeting to address Wagholi's ongoing issues.
Shiv Sena is looking to secure three to four seats in each district.
Dr. Gorhe noted that societal attitudes continue to pose challenges to women's progress and safety.
Stressed that women's safety is a serious matter that transcends politics and deserves appropriate respect.
Confirmed that the Chief Minister’s Ladki Bahin Yojana will continue post-election.
