Smile Please: ‘I Have Changed,’ Ajit Pawar Calls for Positive Campaigning

Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar publicly announced a significant shift in his approach, stating that he has adopted a more humble and peaceful demeanor.

Addressing a gathering of booth committee workers in Baramati on Thursday (October 3), Pawar emphasized his decision to no longer engage in criticism or negative remarks towards others.

He urged his supporters and party workers to follow suit, focusing instead on communicating the extensive development work carried out under his leadership.

"You now see a smiling Ajit Pawar," he said, underlining the transformation in his public persona. "I have changed, I am humble now, and I expect the same from all of you."

The Deputy CM’s comments mark a deliberate departure from his previously stern and direct approach. His words resonated with party workers, as he reiterated the importance of maintaining a positive image while campaigning and engaging with the public.

During the event, Pawar also addressed the recent controversial statement made by MLA Devendra Bhuyar about women, which had sparked public outrage.

Pawar revealed that he had instructed Bhuyar to express regret immediately and to exercise greater caution in the future. Though Bhuyar explained that his remarks were misunderstood, Pawar emphasized that a mistake is a mistake and must be corrected.

Ajit Pawar also announced significant developments for Pune district, especially in terms of school safety and security. He revealed that CCTV cameras would be installed in Zilla Parishad schools, prioritizing those with higher numbers of female students. This project will be funded through the District Planning and Development Fund.

On the welfare front, Pawar reassured the public that the "Ladki Bhin" (Beloved Sister) scheme, which benefits women, will continue without any hurdles. He confirmed that the government has allocated ₹35,000 crore for the scheme over the next nine months, ensuring its smooth implementation.
