Pune: Lieutenant General Shrinjay Pratap Singh, Yudh Seva Medal, officially assumed his new role as Chief of Staff at the Southern Command Headquarters in Pune today.

With an illustrious military career spanning over three decades, General Singh brings a wealth of experience in commanding critical operational assignments across varied terrains and borders.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, General Singh was commissioned into the Infantry in June 1989.

His career has been marked by diverse operational roles, including leadership positions at various command levels.

He has led an infantry battalion in the Semi-Desert Sector, a brigade engaged in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir, a division on the Northern borders, and a corps on the Western front in both Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

His exemplary service as Brigade Commander earned him the prestigious Yudh Seva Medal.

General Singh’s academic background includes completing the Defence Staff Selection Course, the Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow, and the National Defence College Course from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle.

He holds a Master's degree from Madras University, an MPhil from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, and a Master's in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

His extensive staff experience includes pivotal roles in the Military Operations Directorate, as Colonel (General Staff) of an infantry division in Jammu & Kashmir, and as Brigadier General Staff at the Headquarters of the 15 Corps.
