Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) successfully conducted its Ph.D. entrance exam (PET) on Saturday (August 31) across 18 centers in Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik. The exam, which covered 40 subjects, saw participation from 9,128 candidates out of the 10,700 who applied.
Despite initial technical difficulties at one of the centers in Pune, the university swiftly addressed the issue, allowing the exam to proceed without further interruptions.
Dr. Munjaji Rasave, Deputy Registrar of the Academic Admission Department, confirmed that the results are expected to be announced by September 12.
The university had invited applications from prospective PhD candidates through an online process, with the application window closing on August 10.
The application process for the Ph.D. entrance exam began on July 10, and the exam was initially scheduled for August 24. However, due to ongoing discussions about a "Maharashtra Bandh" (statewide shutdown), there were concerns that candidates might face delays and obstacles in reaching the exam centers.
Consequently, the university decided to reschedule the exam to August 31, and the test was conducted smoothly on Saturday (August 31). The results of this exam will be announced by September 12, according to Dr. Munjaji Rasave, Deputy Registrar of the Academic Admission Department of the university.
Meanwhile, at the G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering and Management in Pune, students initially faced login issues during the PET exam, creating some confusion.
However, the university promptly resolved the technical problem, allowing the exam to continue smoothly, as confirmed by Dr. Rasave.
