Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is set to restart the recruitment process for 111 vacant professor positions, incorporating a 10% reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).
The university will soon begin accepting new applications, as well as providing an opportunity for previous applicants to correct and resubmit their applications. This move comes after correspondence with the Ministry to align the recruitment process with the newly implemented reservation policy.
The university accepted online applications for the vacant professor positions in various departments until February 2024. Over 5,000 candidates submitted their applications.
However, due to the implementation of SEBC reservation, the university has initiated correspondence with the Ministry to make changes to the recruitment process. This process is expected to be completed next week.
Therefore, candidates who have already applied will be given an opportunity to make corrections to their applications and reapply. Additionally, candidates who have not yet applied will be given the chance to submit new applications.
The university is currently reviewing the received applications and verifying the eligibility of candidates. However, due to the new applications and corrections in the existing ones, the university may have to redo the entire process.
There have been rumors that some candidates' applications have been rejected, but university officials have clarified that these rumors are false and have urged candidates not to believe them.
The entire recruitment process, including the publication of advertisements, acceptance of applications, scrutiny of the received applications, and calling candidates for interviews, is expected to take a considerable amount of time.
Additionally, there is a possibility that the code of conduct for the upcoming assembly elections may come into effect, which could delay the recruitment process until after the elections.
