Students Can Now Attempt JEE Advanced Exam Thrice

This has brought relief to the students who are waiting for admission in IITs and NITs.

Pune: Students will now be able to appear for the JEE Advanced exam thrice for admission to reputed educational institutions including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and others in the country.

According to the newly announced rules regarding this examination, now students can take the JEE Advanced examination a maximum of three times in three consecutive years. This has brought relief to the students who are waiting for admission in IITs and NITs.

Apart from Indian students, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Person of Indian origin (PIO) also take the JEE Advanced exam to get admission in these reputed institutes in the country.

Around 2.5 lakh students qualify for jee advanced exam through JEE Main, which is conducted for B.E. and B.Tech courses.

According to the reservation of various categories like General Category, Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the students who have topped the JEE Main examination are eligible for the JEE Advanced examination.

The exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). This year, the exam will be conducted by IIT Kanpur.

Till now, students were given the opportunity to appear for JEE Advanced exam only twice.

However, as per the guidelines issued by IIT Kanpur recently, students will now get the opportunity to appear for the exam a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.

Information about the eligibility criteria for the exam has been given on the official website 'https://jeeadv.ac.in/index.html'.

Eligibility criteria
- The student must have been born on or after October 1, 2000
- Five-year relaxation for students belonging to SC, ST and differently-abled categories

- Such a student must have been born on or after October 1, 1995
- Students must take physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects in class XII
- Students who first appeared for the 12th examination in 2022 or earlier will not be eligible
