Pune: In a society where every parent strives to offer the best education to their children, Sumati Balwan School stands out by providing life-centered and skill-based education to orphaned, single-parent, and economically disadvantaged children.

Founded in 2001 by the late Dr. Madhav Hardikar, Dr. Sharayu Ghole, and their like-minded colleagues, the school operates in the Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi area of Pune, managed by the Radhabai Hardikar Pranijat Mangal Sanstha.

Sumati Balwan School integrates formal education with skill-based training, offering courses in agriculture, animal husbandry, engineering, food, health, energy, and electronics under the Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT) model.

This unique approach not only aims to foster academic growth but also equips students with practical skills essential for employment and entrepreneurship. The program, introduced seven years ago, has been pivotal in helping students become self-reliant and creative.

Currently, the school educates 650 students from grades one to ten, including 20 residential girls for whom the school takes full responsibility for their education and well-being. The institution also serves children from neighboring villages, ensuring that they receive the same opportunities as their urban counterparts.
