Pune has witnessed a noticeable rise in temperature as rainfall has taken a break over the past week.

Most areas in the city experienced temperatures exceeding 30°C on Friday (September 13), leading to sunny conditions during the day with occasional cloud cover.

The Pune Weather Observatory has predicted light showers over the next two to three days, but some areas are likely to remain dry.

In the last week of August, the city experienced heavy rainfall, and meteorologists had predicted that September would also bring significant rain.

However, starting September 4th, the anticipated increase in rainfall did not materialize. After brief showers on September 7th, the rains receded, and dry weather has persisted since.

For the past few days, the city and its suburbs have experienced sunny days with cooler nights. While the NDA area recorded a modest 0.5 mm of rainfall on Friday, other parts of Pune remained dry. Meanwhile, light rainfall was reported in parts of the district such as Bhor, Lonavala, Purandar, and Malin.

With half of September already over, there is little indication of heavy rainfall returning soon, though some areas may see brief drizzles.

Fluctuating weather has left residents grappling with a wave of viral infections, including colds, sore throats, and coughs. Doctors say there has been a 25% rise in outpatient visits to both private and government hospitals.

The current weather—cool mornings and evenings followed by hot afternoons—is creating a favorable environment for illnesses such as colds, coughs, fevers, and indigestion.
