Pune: In a significant move, the state government has approved a supplementary Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to management (BBA, BMS, BBM) and computer application (BCA) degree courses. This decision comes after numerous candidates were unable to take the initial exam held on May 29, 2024, thereby giving aspiring students another chance to secure their seats.

The CET Cell, in its press release, stated that this year marked the first time the CET was conducted for these courses following the All India Council for Technical Education's (AICTE) mandate requiring accreditation for them.

This move aims to ensure that more students can pursue their desired courses and that colleges can fill their seats adequately, maintaining the academic standards set by the AICTE.

Previously, admissions for BBA, BCA, BMS, and BBM courses were managed at the college level. The recent CET saw a lower turnout compared to the available seats, prompting college administrators to express concerns over thousands of potential vacancies and to request a supplementary exam.

Responding to these concerns, the state government has agreed to hold an additional CET. The CET Cell highlighted that the decision was made considering the academic interests of the candidates.

Detailed instructions regarding the supplementary exam will be made available on the CET Cell's official website.
