Pune: Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament from Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency, and leader of Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has backed the protesting students over the issue of rescheduling MPSC exams planned for August 25.
On Wednesday (August 21), Sule reached the spot where students have staged a sit-in protest and announced her support to their demands, and further requesting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to intervene in this matter and instruct MPSC to consider the students' request and issue an appropriate circular.
In Pune, students preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams have launched a protest over the scheduling of two major examinations on the same day.
The MPSC's State Service Examination and the IBPS exam are both set for August 25, forcing candidates to choose between them. Despite repeated appeals to the government, students' concerns have been ignored, prompting this agitation.
Adding to their grievances, the MPSC recently announced that it would conduct the Maharashtra Agricultural Service examination for Group A, B, and B (Junior) posts in October.
The students argue that these posts should be included in the State Service Examination and a combined exam should be held in October. They believe this approach would allow them to appear for both exams, aligning with the MPSC's previous examination plan.
NCP (SP) Pune City President Prashant Jagtap, who met with the protesting students, also publicly supported their demands.
MPSC has announced that it will be conducting a meeting to take a decision in this regard on Thursday (August 22).
