Pune: A 30-year-old man has been arrested by Yerawada Police for allegedly raping a divorced woman he met through a dating app. The accused, Nileshbhai Punjabhai Kalsaria, threatened to kill the woman and her child if she did not continue the relationship. The incidents occurred repeatedly between December 3, 2023, and June 30, 2024.

The 35-year-old victim filed a complaint at Yerawada Police Station on Thursday, July 4. Based on her complaint, Kalsaria, who resides at Flat No. 39, Konark Campus, Viman Nagar, has been charged with rape and other offenses.

According to the police, the victim, a divorcee, lives with her 11-year-old son in Wanawadi and works from home for a company. She met the accused on a dating app in November 2023, and they exchanged mobile numbers.

During their conversations, the accused, who introduced himself as Arjun, invited the victim for a long drive to Mumbai. During the return journey, he forcibly made her drink beer. Once back in Pune, he took her to a hotel in Kalyani Nagar and forcibly established physical relations with her.

Subsequently, the accused repeatedly took the victim to various places and coerced her into sexual activities. The victim later discovered that the accused was involved with other women, leading to a confrontation.

During the altercation, the accused verbally abused and physically assaulted her, threatening to kill her. The victim initially lodged a complaint at the Airport Police Station.

In her complaint, she mentioned that the accused threatened her over the phone, saying he would kill her and her child if she pursued the matter. Following the victim's complaint, the police arrested the accused. The investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Lamkhede.
