Pune: In celebration of completing 30 years of service, Tekawade Eye Clinic and Laser Center, located on Satara Road, Swargate, Pune, will conduct a free eye check-up camp for senior citizens on October 16.
The camp will take place from 11 AM to 4 PM at the hospital, situated near Lakshminarayan Theatre. Senior citizens attending the camp will benefit from thorough eye examinations using state-of-the-art machines to detect cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye-related issues.
Dr. Sanjay Tekawade, head of Tekawade Eye Hospital, shared insights into the hospital's achievements, stating that the facility was the first to introduce phacoemulsification, an advanced and minimally invasive cataract surgery technique that does not require stitches or injections.
The hospital also pioneered laser surgeries for reducing spectacle power in younger patients and was the first to offer lens-based surgeries to reduce extremely high spectacle power, exceeding minus 20.0.
Over the years, Dr. Tekawade has performed more than 5,000 successful cataract surgeries and over 2,000 laser surgeries. The hospital also introduced modern diagnostic methods for eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinal disorders.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Tekawade held the position of president of the Pune Ophthalmic Association for the year 2021-2022.
The free camp is part of the hospital's ongoing commitment to providing advanced eye care services to the community, with a focus on early detection and treatment of vision problems among the elderly population.
