Pune: A tempo overturned on Sunday night in the Shivshambhonagar area on the Katraj-Kondhwa road, injuring around 20 pedestrians. Following the incident, Bharati Vidyapeeth police have filed a case against the tempo driver.
According to Prayagabai Narayan Bokhare (72 years old, from Fukatgav, Parbhani district), who filed a complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, the driver, Navnath Lakshmanrao Chopde (from Dhar, Parbhani district), has been charged.
The incident occurred late Sunday night as the tempo was returning from a religious procession in Parbhani district, carrying participants.
On Katraj-Kondhwa road in Shivshambhonagar, near Lane No. 1, the tempo driven by Chopde lost control, resulting in an overturn that injured 20 pedestrians.
Prayagabai Bokhare sustained injuries to her legs and hands, and her spectacles were damaged. Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station confirmed the incident and rushed the injured pedestrians to the hospital for treatment. Police Sub Inspector Deshmukh is conducting further investigations.
