Pune: A significant peace rally led by Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil will take place in Pune today, as he continues his firm demand for Maratha reservation.
The rally is expected to draw a large crowd of Maratha community members, prompting the city authorities to implement substantial traffic changes.
The rally will commence at 12:00 PM from Sarasbaug, following a ceremonial tribute at the Ganpati temple and the memorial of Sahityaratna Anna Bhau Sathe. The march will then proceed towards the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Memorial in Deccan, where it will conclude at 6:00 PM.
Given the expected turnout, city officials have announced several traffic diversions and road closures. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid disruptions.
Key Traffic Changes:
Sinhagad Road: Traffic will be diverted via Dandekar Bridge, Savarkar Chowk, Mitramandal Chowk, and Laxminarayan Talkies Chowk.
SP College Chowk: Traffic towards Puram Chowk will be closed.
Jedhe Chowk: The road leading to this area will be closed for traffic.
Rally-related Road Closures:
Traffic towards Shanipar Chowk on Kumthekar Road, Belbaug Chowk on Laxmi Road, and Appa Balwant Chowk will be closed.
Traffic towards Mangala Talkies Premier Garage and from Shivajinagar Court will also be closed.
After the rally reaches Jangli Maharaj Road, traffic on Kelkar Road, Bhide Bridge Pulachi Wadi to Jangli Maharaj Road, and Khandoji Baba Chowk will be closed.
