Pune: In a startling incident at Kranti Chowk in Navi Sangvi, two men abused a private company bus driver, accusing him of causing a traffic jam. The situation escalated when the company employees, attempting to resolve the traffic congestion, were assaulted by these men.
Nitin Baban Gaikwad, a resident of Mukti Nand Park in Navi Sangvi, lodged a complaint leading to a case being registered against two unidentified motorcyclists. Gaikwad was on his way to work in Chikhali when the bus he was traveling in caused a traffic jam while turning right at Kranti Chowk.
One of the men on the motorcycle began shouting at the bus driver, blaming him for the traffic issue and hurling abuses. As Gaikwad and other employees exited the bus to help clear the traffic, one of the assailants picked up a stone and struck Sachin Ghatge, an employee, on the head.
In a further act of violence, the same assailant hit Gaikwad on the forehead with a pair of scissors. Gaikwad suffered injuries to his chest and arm while trying to defend himself. The attackers then fled the scene on their motorcycle. Sangvi police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
Recently, two intoxicated men had hijacked a PMP bus, causing panic among passengers. The incident had occurred around 1:15 PM in Bhosari, when the men stopped the bus, threatened the driver, and took control of the steering wheel, driving recklessly and colliding with vehicles and pedestrians.
The police had booked Santosh Jadhav (40) and Jitesh Ramesh Rathod (36) from Mhalunge, Chakan in this case. The accused, in a drunken state, signaled the bus to stop and then boarded it. They verbally abused the driver, Suraj Sukhlal Kale (24), and took over the steering wheel, claiming they were also bus drivers.
