Pune: Five teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and wildlife rescuers have commenced an intensive search in the Indrayani river for the mother and her two children who were drowned by an alleged killer.
The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Samarin Nisar Nevarekar and her children, Eeshan (5) and Ijaan (2). Authorities have arrested the suspects, Gajendra Jagannath Daghakhair (37) and Ravikant Bhanudas Gaikwad (41).
The shocking crime was uncovered on Monday, July 22, in Talegaon Dabhade, where accused Dagadkhair threw his girlfriend’s corpse along with her two young children Eeshan and Ijaan into the Indrayani river.
Due to heavy rains, the river’s flow has increased, and local residents living nearby have been warned about the situation. The search efforts are set to resume on Wednesday (July 24) morning, as stated by Pradeep Raynawaar, Senior Inspector of Talegaon Dabhade.
On July 6, Dagadkhair allegedly sent Samarin to Kalamboli for an abortion with his friend Ravikant. Unfortunately, during the procedure, Samarin died.
Following her death, the two men conspired to transport her body and the children to Varale in Talegaon on July 9. Their plan involved disposing of Samarin’s body in the Indrayani River.
When the children realized their mother was being discarded, they cried out loudly, prompting the accused to throw both children into the river as well.
The community has reacted with outrage, calling for severe punishment for the accused, with relatives of Samarin demanding the death penalty.
