Pune: Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has covered many areas and the medical field is no longer far behind. Among them, the use of AI in X-ray is increasing. Disorders are being diagnosed using AI by quickly analyzing the images produced by X-ray machines.
The use of AI is gradually increasing abroad to diagnose diseases such as tuberculosis, brain tumors, even minor fractures in the spine, breast cancer, pneumonia.
X-ray technology is used to take images of organs. International Day is celebrated every year on November 8 to commemorate the significant contribution of the sector.
On this day in 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Rontzen discovered the existence of X-rays. This science has made it possible to diagnose the disease early and treat it early.
The latest research in this technology led to the development of diagnostic and treatment methods. Early diagnosis is saving many lives.
In addition to diagnosis and surgery, treatment methods have also evolved. At present, this technique is being used for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in rural hospitals of the Public Health Department in Satara. Though it is not yet being used in private hospitals in Pune, the technology is expected to arrive soon.
If it takes technicians 20 to 30 minutes to make a diagnosis, the same work is done by the AI in 150 seconds. As a result, this technology is being adopted to provide quick reports to patients.
AI can determine the priority of which of the 100 patients should be given a CTScan or MRI report immediately. This will enable technicians to reduce the workload. This technology helps a lot in diagnosing diseases in a subtle way. The black-and-white shades in the X-ray image have many limitations when viewed by the human eye. AI detects very subtle changes and can make correct diagnoses, said Dr. Vijaykumar Mane, Professor and Radiologist
X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, etc. have stable images. It is possible to diagnose diseases using AI. However, it takes human skill to make a diagnosis through techniques such as sonography. Its diagnosis depends on an experienced and skilled technician. AI is used in developed countries. This technology may also come to you in the future, said Dr. Shirish Gandhi, Former President, Radiologists Association, Pune
