Pune: In a tragic road accident, a 21-year-old college student, Yash Suresh Tanpure, lost his life after being hit by a speeding tempo while on his way to college.
The incident occurred on Monday (October 7) morning at around 7:45 AM on the road leading from Uttamnagar to NDA in Pune. Another student, Nikhil Wankhede, who was riding the motorcycle with Yash, was seriously injured in the accident.
The two young men were traveling to their college on a motorcycle when the tempo, driving at high speed, collided with them. Both were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but Yash was declared dead by the attending doctors.
Nikhil, who sustained severe injuries, survived the crash and later lodged a complaint at the Uttamnagar police station.
Following the complaint by Nikhil Wankhede, the police have registered a case against the tempo driver, who fled the scene after the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the matter, with Assistant Police Inspector Amruta Chavre leading the inquiry.
Recently, 23-year-old Chaitanya Umesh Shinde lost his life after being struck by a dumper near Wagholi on the Pune-Nagar Highway. The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. in front of Reliance Mart, and the dumper driver had also fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Chaitanya, a resident of Supreme Aangan Society, Wagholi, had recently started working at Concentrix Company in Kharadi after completing his BCA degree.
