Mumbai: A major fraud case involving ₹39.07 lakh has been uncovered, with 19 individuals being deceived under the guise of affordable travel packages to Europe and Singapore. The Vashi Police Station has filed a complaint against the owner and operator of the agency involved in the scam.
The accused, identified as Vicky, also known as Bhupesh Thakkar, operated a travel agency named "Travels Express" from the Haware Fantasia Park commercial building in Vashi.
The agency promoted its services on social media, offering budget travel options to popular international destinations. Many customers, lured by these promises, booked trips to Europe, America, and Singapore.
However, when these travelers arrived to collect their tickets and other documents, they were met with excuses and delays. Recently, the agency's office was found locked, and the accused had disappeared.
Upon discovering the scam, the victims filed complaints with the Vashi Police Station. The primary complaint was lodged by senior citizen Nitin Thakkar, with a total of 19 individuals reporting a combined loss of ₹39,07,074.
Police Sub-Inspector Ramesh Patil is currently investigating the case. The Vashi Police have advised anyone who made bookings through Travels Express to contact the police station immediately.
