Pune: The Junnar Taluka Legal Services Committee has called on litigants to take advantage of the third National Lok Adalat, which will be held at the Junnar Court on Saturday, September 28.

Chairperson Namrata Biradar urged the parties involved in pending cases to opt for amicable settlements through this platform, highlighting the numerous benefits of Lok Adalats in resolving disputes efficiently.

To ensure maximum participation, those who cannot attend in person will be able to participate virtually through online platforms. Following the directives of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority,

all courts across Pune district will hold Lok Adalats from 10 AM to 5 PM on the same day.

The upcoming Lok Adalat will address a variety of case types, including criminal compromises, bank recoveries, Section 38 N.I. Act cases, accident compensation claims, labor disputes,

unpaid utility bills (electricity and water), marital disputes, land acquisition issues, and recovery applications filed by banks and credit societies.

A special feature of this Lok Adalat is the handling of e-challan cases. In these cases, vehicle owners will receive SMS notifications on their mobile phones,

allowing them to settle the fine through a link provided in the message, via the MahaTraffic app, or at any nearby traffic department office.

Resolution of Bounced Cheque Cases Cases involving bounced cheques under the Negotiable Instruments Act will be handled efficiently, allowing partial payments to settle disputes.

If full payment of the cheque is not possible, installment plans can be arranged. On the day of the Lok Adalat, parties can make part of the payment and finalize the remaining amount through a compromise agreement.

Once the settlement is reached, the criminal case will be fully resolved, eliminating the need for further court appearances.

A Family Saved from Separation A significant success story from the last Lok Adalat, held on July 27, involved the resolution of a marital dispute.

In front of panel judge Namrata Biradar, the couple reconciled with the mediation of their lawyers. Their mutual agreement saved the family from separation, allowing them to begin a new chapter in their married life.

Why Lok Adalats Are Beneficial

  • Lok Adalats offer a faster resolution of disputes, as they avoid lengthy legal processes like oral evidence, cross-examinations, and extended arguments.

  • Once a decision is reached, it is binding, and no appeals are allowed, providing finality to the case. Since the resolution is based on mutual consent, both parties find satisfaction in the outcome.

  • Furthermore, the court enforces the decision, ensuring legal compliance. Lok Adalats also save both time and money, as court fees are refunded once the case is resolved.
