Pune: In a shocking turn of events following a car accident, three individuals in the vehicle attempted to swap the driver to avoid charges. The police initially filed a case against the identified driver, but upon further investigation and objections from relatives, the real driver was revealed and subsequently charged.

The accident occurred on Sunday (July 14) night around 10 PM on the Pune Nagar Highway. A car traveling from Kesnand towards Lonikand collided head-on with a motorcycle, seriously injuring the three individuals riding it.

The injured, identified as Dhore, Navnath Dnyaneshwar Hargude, and Vinayak Dnyaneshwar Dhore, are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kharadi.

Following the collision, Navnath Chormole, who was in the car, fled the scene. The other two occupants of the car claimed that Chormole was the driver. Kumar Jaysing Dhore filed a complaint at the Lonikand police station, resulting in a case being registered against Chormole.

Relatives of the accused objected, stating that Chormole was not the driver. Upon further questioning by the police, Chormole initially maintained his claim of being the driver.

However, under increased pressure, he revealed that Akshay Gaikwad was the actual driver. A case was then filed against Gaikwad for the accident. Gaikwad confessed to coercing Chormole into taking the blame.

Senior Police Inspector Sawalaram Salgaonkar of Lonikand stated that the initial case against Chormole was filed based on the complaint and the statements of the other two individuals in the car. After the relatives' objections, further investigation revealed the true driver. Chormole was also charged with providing false information.
