Pune: In response to the heavy rainfall, the discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River is being increased from 29,414 cusecs to 35,002 cusecs at 11:00 AM on Sunday (August 4).

Authorities have stated that further adjustments may be necessary depending on the situation. Earlier in the morning, the water release from Khadakwasla Dam was raised from 27,016 cusecs to 29,414 cusecs at 9:00 AM on Sunday (August 4). The discharge from Mulshi Dam into the Mula River remains steady at 24,745 cusecs.

Meanwhile, due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Pavana Dam area since Saturday (August 3), there has been a substantial inflow of water into the dam, which is now at 93% of its capacity. Consequently, the discharge has been increased to 7,070 cusecs starting from 10:00 AM.

By 6:00 AM on Sunday, the Pavana Dam area had recorded 98 mm of rainfall, with the water level at 92.81% of its capacity. By 8:15 AM, the dam was 93% full and continues to rise. Previously, the dam's discharge rate was 5,000 cusecs, which has now been increased to 7,070 cusecs.

The heavy rainfall has also affected Pimpri-Chinchwad city and Maval Taluka, causing the Pavana River to flow at full capacity. With the increased discharge, the water level in the river is expected to rise further, prompting a warning to residents in villages along the river to remain alert.
