Pune: The Maha Vikas Aghadi has voiced concerns over the irregular water supply plaguing the Wadgaon Sheri constituency for several days.

In a press conference held recently, former MLA Bapusaheb Pathare called upon the municipal administration to address the ongoing water scarcity issues affecting multiple neighborhoods in Wadgaon Sheri, particularly during the festive season.

Pathare urged authorities to restore a consistent water supply to relieve the burden on citizens.

Numerous areas in the constituency, including Wadgaon Sheri, Lohegaon, and Kharadi - Chandan Nagar, have been dealing with intermittent and low-pressure water supplies.

Areas such as Borate Vasti, Raghoba Patil Nagar, Thite Nagar, Tuljabhavani Nagar, Shejwal Park, Sainath Nagar, Kalubai Nagar, Pathare Thube Nagar, Chaudhari Somnath Nagar, Shree Krishna Society, Somnath Mala, Ganpati Housing Society, Sai Park, Chandrabhaga Sonai Park, Beedi Kamgar, Ashtavinayak Nagar, Yashwant Nagar, Sai Nagari, Satav Vasti, Anusaya Park, Aaple Ghar, Rajaram Patil Nagar, and Kharadi village have been severely affected.

Due to low water pressure, many residents are not receiving sufficient water supply, which has led to frustration as the festive season approaches.

The city’s water supply was temporarily shut down last week for maintenance at the Parvati Water Purification Center and other facilities.

Despite this, the water pressure remains low, forcing residents to buy bottled water, adding a financial burden on top of the scarcity. Local representatives, including former corporators Sachin Bhagat, Mahendra Pathare, Bhaiyasaheb Jadhav, Mahadev Pathare, Sanjila Pathare, Ashish Mane, and Sanket Galande, attended the conference in solidarity with residents.

Former MLA Pathare stated, "The current water shortage has left residents with no option but to buy water through private tankers. Given the festive season, the municipal administration needs to be more vigilant about the issue.

Despite adequate water reserves, why are we still facing inconsistent and low-pressure water supply? With the code of conduct in effect, protests cannot be held, but the lack of water supply is unacceptable. If the situation is not resolved promptly, activists will consider further actions."
