Pune: Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad are facing water supply disruptions on Friday (July 26), as increased turbidity in the water has caused technical issues at the Ravet Pumping House.
The water supply throughout the day will be delayed, with lower pressure and reduced quantity, affecting the entire city. Repair work is currently underway to address the malfunction caused by heavy rainfall in the Pavana dam and river area.
During the monsoon season, the risk of waterborne diseases is high, prompting the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to take necessary precautions to ensure clean and safe drinking water for residents. Citizens are advised to filter and boil their drinking water as a preventive measure.
In addition to water supply issues, heavy rainfall has also disrupted Pune-Mumbai railway services. Many trains were canceled on Thursday due to water accumulation on the tracks, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
With the weather department issuing a warning of heavy rain, the railway administration has also canceled some trains scheduled to run on Friday.
These include the Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express, Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express, and Mumbai-Pune Intercity Express, as as water continues to pose a problem on the tracks between Badlapur and Vangani.
Public Relations Officer Rampal Badpagga said, "To prevent last-minute inconvenience to passengers due to the cancellation of trains, a help desk has been set up at Pune Railway Station to provide information to passengers.
Railway employees have been deployed at this desk. The help desk will provide information about alternative trains to the passengers."
