Pune: As the city gears up for the final day of Ganesh festival celebrations, with Anant Chaturdashi on Tuesday (September 17), the weather might pose a challenge for devotees looking to make the most of the last day of festivities.

According to the latest weather reports, Pune is likely to experience cloudy skies throughout the day, with intermittent rain showers expected in the afternoon. The weather department has advised devotees to plan their outdoor activities accordingly, given the possibility of sudden rainfall.

Monday (September 16) marks the last day for Ganesh devotees to venture out before the immersion of idols on Anant Chaturdashi, so many are expected to gather at key festival venues. However, authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and monitor the weather before stepping out.

In a broader forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that this year’s monsoon is nearing its retreat from the country. But before its departure, some states are expected to experience heavy rainfall.

Maharashtra, in particular, may see the reactivation of monsoon conditions in the coming days. Regions such as Marathwada, Vidarbha, and parts of central Maharashtra are likely to experience scattered rainfall.

While Mumbai and its suburbs are forecasted to have cloudy skies and occasional rain, Pune and its surrounding areas will likely witness moderate showers.

On the national front, heavy rains have been reported across several parts of the country. A low-pressure system has developed in the Ganges region of West Bengal and parts of Bangladesh, bringing significant rain to Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between September 15 and 16, and to Assam and Meghalaya between September 18 and 20.
