Pune: In a startling incident in Rajgad (Velhe) Taluka, two individuals buried the body of their companion in the remote hills of Pabe Ghat after he died from a fall while attempting to steal copper wires from the state electricity board tower.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, August 8, around 1:30 AM. Upon receiving information, the police and a rescue team promptly arrived at the scene, as confirmed by Assistant Police Inspector Appasaheb Padalkar of the Velhe Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Basavaraj Purant Magnimani (aged 22), currently residing in Wadgaon Budruk, Pune, with his original hometown being Tuljapur, Akkalkot Taluka, Solapur District. A missing person's report for Basavaraj was filed at the Sinhagad Road Police Station on July 23.
According to the police, Basavaraj Magnimani had accompanied Rupesh Arun Yenpure and Saurabh Bapu Renuse (both aged 25, residents of Pabe) on July 13 to Ranjane, Rajgad Taluka (Velhe) to steal copper wires from an MSEB tower.
While Basavaraj was cutting wires using an hacksaw blade, he accidentally fell from the tower, sustained injuries, and died on the spot. His companions, Rupesh Arun Yenpure and Saurabh Bapu Renuse, then buried his body in a pit dug in the hills of Pabe Ghat.
The police received this preliminary information and, along with the rescue team, reached the site. The investigation is ongoing.
