Pune: In a disturbing case of sexual assault and exploitation, a 28-year-old woman from Shrirampur has filed a police complaint accusing multiple individuals of rape, forced abortion, and physical assault.
The woman was reportedly lured to Pune with the promise of a job, where she was drugged and then repeatedly sexually assaulted. After becoming pregnant, the accused forced her to undergo an abortion at a hospital in Chandannagar.
The complainant has identified the accused as Ibrahim Sheikh, Roshanbi, Parveen Sheikh, Mangala, and Mangala's daughter. The incidents are alleged to have occurred over several years, beginning in 2015, with the most recent assaults taking place on September 3, 2022.
According to the complaint, the woman was initially lured to Pune under the false pretext of securing employment. During a meeting in Pune, the accused drugged her food and forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse.
The woman later discovered that she was pregnant as a result of the assault. Instead of offering help, the accused continued to threaten her and eventually forced her to visit Kalpana Hospital in Chandannagar, where she was made to undergo an abortion against her will.
The victim was also subjected to unnatural sexual acts and further physical abuse, including strangulation and assault. Assistant Police Inspector Wanjari of the Lonikand Police Station is leading the investigation.
