Pune: In a disturbing incident, a woman was allegedly assaulted by recovery officers who forcibly seized her vehicle due to an unpaid loan. The officers reportedly pushed the woman, tore her top, and molested her during the altercation.
The 40-year-old woman has filed a complaint with the Bibwewadi police. Based on her statement, the police have registered a case against three recovery officers identified as Piyush Sharma, Sahil Shaikh, and Atish Khandagale.
The incident occurred on Friday (August 16) around 11:30 AM at the Central Bank of India branch in Ramyanagari, Bibwewadi.
According to the police report, the woman was riding her two-wheeler home when she was stopped by the three men, who claimed to be officers from Credit Wise Capital Finance, the company from which she had taken a loan to purchase her vehicle.
As her loan was overdue, they began to forcibly tow her vehicle. When she resisted, the men allegedly verbally abused her, pushed her, and tore her top off her shoulder, leading to her molestation.
They then took her vehicle away. The police have registered a case, and Inspector Londhe is leading the investigation.
In a related recent incident at Chimbali, close to Alandi, a 32-year-old man ended his life after facing harassment from a finance company's recovery agents.
The deceased, Madhav Hanmant Waghmare, took his life while on a video call with his wife, citing the distress caused by the forcible seizure of his motorcycle.
