Pune: A woman has been charged with fraud for submitting a fake land ownership document, known as a 7/12 extract, in an attempt to secure bail for another accused woman in the Shivajinagar District Court.

The accused, Mandakini Bhanudas Lale, aged 66, from Amrapali Society in Abhiruchi City, Wadgaon, has been booked following a complaint filed by Prashant Tayde, a Junior Clerk at the First Class Magistrate Court No. 1 in Shivajinagar.

The incident occurred when Mandakini Lale submitted an affidavit to the Shivajinagar First Class Magistrate’s court in support of the bail application for Shobha Vijay Shedge.

Alongside the affidavit, Lale presented supporting documents including an Aadhaar card, a ration card, and a copy of the 7/12 extract, which purportedly showed ownership of land in Shivane village.

During the review of these documents, the court noted discrepancies in the 7/12 extract, specifically some suspicious handwritten entries. The court ordered a verification of the document’s authenticity through the Revenue Department’s official online land records portal.

The investigation revealed that the 7/12 extract was actually registered under the name of Kalawali Bhaguji Shedge, not the individual named in the affidavit.

Upon discovering the fraudulent document submission, the court determined that Mandakini Lale had made false declarations in her affidavit with the intent to mislead the judiciary and secure bail for the accused.

Subsequently, Shivajinagar Police registered a case against Lale under charges of submitting forged documents and deceiving the court.
