Pune: A tragic accident occurred at a mattress factory in Pune, where a worker lost his life after getting trapped in a foam mixer machine, and another worker sustained severe injuries.

The incident took place at "Snooze Hub Comfort and Sleep Redefined," located in the Wadki Nala area on Saswad Road. Police have registered a case against the machine operator for negligence leading to the accident.

The deceased worker has been identified as Mohammad Arshad Ansari, 27, a native of Manukeri, Palamu in Jharkhand. Another worker, Kailas Bharat Kaul, 21, originally from Rohaniya, Devgaon in Madhya Pradesh, was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The accident occurred on Sunday, September 1st, when the workers reported for their regular shift. Ansari and Kaul were engaged in cleaning the foam mixer machine by removing accumulated cotton and debris.

According to police reports, machine operator Amit Ballu Dhurve, 25, failed to verify if anyone was inside the machine before starting it. In a tragic turn of events, the machine was activated while Ansari was still inside, resulting in severe injuries that led to his immediate death.

Kaul also sustained injuries when his leg got caught in the machine, prompting a quick response from fellow workers who managed to pull him out.

Following the accident, Kaul filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station. Based on his statement, police have charged Amit Dhurve with negligence under applicable sections of the law. Sub-Inspector Vishnu Deshmukh is leading the investigation, which is currently ongoing.
