As Joe Biden took over as the 46th president of the US, world leaders took to twitter to convey congratulations to the newly elected president. Along with many other world leaders, PM Modi also conveyed his good wishes to President Biden.

“My warmest congratulations to Joe Biden on his assumption of office as President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen India-US strategic partnership,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

French President Emmanuel Macron

“Best wishes on this most significant day for the American people! We are together. We will be stronger to face the challenges of our time. Stronger to build our future. Stronger to protect our planet. Welcome back to the Paris Agreement!” President Emmanuel said in a tweet.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau released a statement on twitter. Canada and the United States “will continue this partnership as we fight the global COVID-19 pandemic and support a sustainable economic recovery that will build back better for everyone.”


England Prime Minister Boris Johnson

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson released a statement in the Parliament. “I look forward to working with him (Biden), and with his new administration, strengthening the partnership between our countries and working on our shared priorities: from tackling climate change, building back better from the pandemic and strengthening our transatlantic security,” reported news agency Reuters

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern

New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern released a statement. “We have a common investment in the international rules-based order and I welcome President Biden’s intentions for the US to re-join the Paris Agreement and halt its withdrawal from the World Health Organization.”

“President Biden’s message of unity as he takes office is one that resonates with New Zealanders and, on behalf of New Zealand, I wish him well as he begins his presidency.” Reported news agency Reuters

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga

“Congratulations to President @JoeBiden and Vice President @KamalaHarris on your inauguration. Japan and the United States are allies tied firmly by bonds and shared universal values,” PM Suga said in a tweet.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier released a video statement. “Today is a good day for democracy. In the United States of America, it has faced tremendous challenges – and endured. Despite the attempts to tear at America’s institutional fabric, election workers and governors, the judiciary and Congress, have proven strong. I am greatly relieved that, today, Joe Biden is being sworn in as president and will be moving into the White House. I know many people in Germany share this feeling,” reported news agency Reuters
