Pune: A female police officer sustained serious injuries in a recent incident at Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk on Fergusson College (FC) Road, as a speeding Piaggio vehicle, coming from wrong-side, collided with her motorcycle.

The injured officer has been identified as Sunita Sunil Kaduskar (40), residing at Ram Kadam Chowk, Trimurti Nivas, Baner. She filed a complaint at Chatuhshrungi Police Station on Thursday (July 11).

Based on her complaint, charges have been filed against the unknown Piaggio driver under sections 281, 125(b), 324(4) of the Indian Penal Code, and sections 184, 134, 119/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to Police Constable Dattatray Reddy, Sunita Kaduskar is stationed at Khadak Police Station. On Wednesday, around 10 AM, she was on her way to duty on her motorcycle.

As she passed through Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk, a speeding Piaggio vehicle approached from the opposite direction. The driver, recklessly driving at high speed, collided head-on with Kaduskar's motorcycle.

The impact resulted in a fractured leg for Kaduskar and damage to her motorcycle. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Constable Reddy.

The city of Pune is witnessing a surge in accidents, with numerous instances of drivers risking their lives by driving in the wrong direction to save time. These reckless actions have led to several accidents and injuries.

Recently, a policeman identified as Samadhan Koli on duty was killed on the spot, and constable Sanjog Shinde injured, after their patrol bike was hit by a speeding Car at the underpass near Harris Bridge in Bopodi area on the old Pune-Mumbai Highway. The duo were posted at Khadki police station.
