PCMC Commissioner, Shekhar Singh, has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter to further investigate the claims.

The incident came to light after a female doctor posted her experience on a social media platform, which quickly caught the attention of the institute's administration.

The YCM Postgraduate Institute, which began offering postgraduate medical courses a few years ago, appointed Dr. Dhaygude as one of its professors.

However, allegations emerged that the professor had made inappropriate comments and behaved improperly toward female trainee doctors enrolled in the program.

The case was referred to the institute's Vishakha Committee, a body responsible for investigating sexual harassment complaints. The committee conducted a thorough investigation, recording statements from both current and former students of the institute.

According to the statements provided by the female doctors, Dr. Dhaygude created a hostile work environment, made derogatory comments, and even coerced female doctors into performing inappropriate acts such as dancing and consuming alcohol.

Additionally, the professor was accused of leering at female doctors, further contributing to a toxic and intimidating atmosphere.

After reviewing the evidence, the Vishakha Committee found merit in the complaints and recommended strict action against Dr. Dhaygude.

Acting on the committee's recommendation, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh issued an order suspending Dr. Dhaygude. The suspension was issued on grounds of misconduct and violation of office discipline, and a detailed departmental inquiry has been initiated to delve deeper into the case.

The incident has sparked concerns over the safety and mental well-being of female students at the institute. Dr. Rajendra Wable, the Dean of the YCM Postgraduate Institute, said, "Often, students lack the confidence to file complaints after such incidents. We are counseling them to ensure they feel supported and empowered to report any inappropriate behavior."
