Pune: In a recent incident in Pune, the police managed to avert what could have been a significant disaster. Shubham Gupta was arrested by the Deccan Police after he was found driving under the influence of alcohol.

The driver, who was severely intoxicated, was apprehended in front of the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Memorial by the vigilant Assistant Police Inspector from Yerawada Police Station. Upon investigation, it was evident that the car had already been involved in an accident.

The driver was in a heavily intoxicated state and showed no signs of being aware of his surroundings. Authorities believe that if he had continued driving, further accidents would have been inevitable.

The vehicle displayed a doctor’s emblem, leading to speculation that it might belong to a medical professional. However, the exact ownership of the car remains unclear.

Police are now investigating the route the car took to arrive in the Deccan area and are working to uncover further details surrounding the incident. Fortunately, due to the timely intervention by the police, a major mishap was prevented in the Deccan locality.

Last month, investigations into the Bopodi hit-and-run incident had revealed that a reckless car driver and his two friends had consumed alcohol in a birthday party, and they were trying to chase another car who had overtaken them, when they hit the patrol bike of police constables from Khadki police station.

On July 7 night, police constables Samadhan Koli and Sanjog Shinde had reunited a lost girl with her parents and were patrolling on their police bike in Bopodi area when they were hit by the speeding car.
