Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled for a visit to Pune on Thursday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for twelve major projects, including the city’s metro system. However, inclement weather forced the cancellation of his visit.

On the same morning, an engineer in his twenties made an urgent call to the emergency control room, pleading for help, stating, “Save Prime Minister Narendra Modi; help him.” This unexpected call quickly escalated into a high-priority security alert, mobilizing the state police forces.

Police, utilizing advanced technical tracking, traced the caller to Thergaon, a locality under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s jurisdiction.

Wakad police officers promptly launched a search operation, leading to the engineer’s apprehension at a local bus stop where he was found waiting for public transport.

The young man, originally from Udgir, was visiting Thergaon to see a friend. The police are currently investigating the reasons behind his distress call, probing whether it was a genuine threat alert or a misguided action.

The seriousness of the call prompted a coordinated response from both the police department and the Anti-Terrorism Squad, which are running parallel investigations.

Preliminary findings suggest that the young engineer, an avid viewer of Hollywood movies and AI-themed videos on social media, might have been influenced by recent statements made by Prime Minister Modi during his tour of Western countries, where he spoke about social media and artificial intelligence.
