PUNE: Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) Chief Commissioner Krishna Mishra on Tuesday said the new GST returns policy would be simpler and easier for small businesses.
She was speaking at a workshop organised by the ICAI. The CGST and ICAI jointly organised a hands-on workshop on the new GST returns, which will be effective from April 1. Participants at the workshop got hands-on experience on the GST return portal as well as the offline GST filing tool.
Eminent officers from the CGST Department, Pune explained to the attendees the changes that will be effective from the new financial year. Over 250 participants were present at this workshop.
“As per the new policy, GST returns can be filed monthly as well as quarterly. It will be an aid for small businesses, which will get a big relief,” said CGST Chief Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner CGST Akash Chougule and Superintendent Pune Zone II Amit Kumar Shrivastava gave a presentation on the New GST Returns and web portals, as well as on an offline tool for filing GST returns and informed attendees about the new GST returns filing process.
ICAI Pune Chairman CA Abhishek Dhamne said, “The motive of this workshop on new GST returns is to give attendees the hands-on experience through GST filing portal and on the offline tool. So, the changes which will be effective from next month can be introduced to them and feedback can be given back to the GST department.”
