Pune: The 29th Pune Festival, a confluence of music, dance, drama, art, singing, instruments, sports and culture will be held during Ganeshotsav this year from August 25 to September 5. The festival will be inaugurated by veteran film director Subhash Ghai and actor turned politician Shatrughan Sinha on September 1.

Leading personalities from films and politics will take part in the festival. Jayakumar Rawal, Minister for Tourism in Government of Maharashtra, Girish Bapat, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies (GOM), will be the guest of honor. Pune Festival’s patron and actress Hema Malini along with other film personalities such as Vivek Oberoi, Rati Agnihotri, Neha Sharma and Kartik Aryan will grace the occasion.

Special cultural programmes by Zee Yuva and Zee Talkies along with All India Urdu Mushaira are going to be the special attractions of this year. Other cultural programmes such as Ugawate Tar, Indradhanu, Marathi poetry, classical music and dance, Miss Pune Festival competition, Kerala Mahatosav are also going to be held during the Festival.
Sports events such as Golf cup tournament, boxing, wrestling and malla khamb competition are going to be the added attraction of this year’s festival.

The Ganesh idol of Festival will be installed at 10 in the morning on August 25 at Hotel Saras Nehru Stadium by Divisional commissioner Chandrakant Dalvi.
