Pune: The minor boy who was apprehended by Chakan police in connection with murder of 17-year-old girl had got ‘evidence disposal ideas’ from crime shows on television. Investigations have also revealed that he murdered the girl as she teased him by calling him a ‘transgender’ after he dressed up as a female character for a folk performance in the village. The girl was found murdered on July 24 and her body was recovered from a thicket under a lemon tree near the Aaskhed Khurd canal in Khed taluka. The girl and her uncle had filed a molestation case against the three men a few days back before her murder and hence the needle of suspicion initially was toward the role of these three suspects. These suspects were arrested and remanded to five days police custody by a local court. However, during the interrogation, it was revealed that they had no role in the murder.
According to officials investigating the case, the girl had gone to a grocery store on July 24 at around 1 pm. The store was about 3 kilometres away from her home. The girl had a conversation with her father over the phone at around 3 pm. But after that, she was out of contact. The girl did not return home in time and thus her family members started searching for her. One of her friends had then informed family members about her dead body lying under a thicket near the canal. The girl had injuries on her head and face caused due to a hard object and had died on the spot.
Chakan police released a statement about the role and motive of the minor boy involved in the girl’s murder. The statement says, “The minor boy used to dress up as a female character for a folk poetry performance. It had influenced his day to day activities too. The deceased girl had started teasing him as a transgender since then, which angered him. The suspect used to watch south Indian movies and crime shows like Crime Patrol and Savdhan India. As shown in the serials, he planned for the murder of the girl by identifying a spot on the way to her home. As the girl approached the spot, he pounced on her and he smashed her head with a stone. Later he stripped her clothes off and packed it along with her mobile in a plastic bag. Then he went home to change his own clothes and joined the police investigation team that was searching for the deceased girl.”
