Coronavirus lockdown: EPFO Pune Cantt disbursed Rs 8.43 crore

Pune: During the Lockdown in a view of COVID-19 a total 3,953 eligible establishments and 49,129 number of employees were benefitted under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Pune Cantt office. A total amount of Rs 8,43,46,377 disbursed by the office towards 24 per cent contribution as per Government of India notifications from March to April 2020.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the lockdown was in force across the country and Central Government after making necessary inquiry was satisfied that to provide liquidity in the hands of employers and employees, a notification dated May 18 was issued which mentioned that any establishments other than Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSU), and State Public Sector Enterprises(SPSU) units or under the control of the Central Govt or State Govt, as the case may be, in respect of wages payable by it for the months of May, Jun and July 2020.   

“In view of the above, establishments coming under PMGKY are not eligible to reduce the contribution because both the share of contribution is paid by the Central Government. The rate of contribution is also reduced to 10 per cent from 12 per cent in respect of establishment not getting benefits under PMGKY,” said Regional Commissioner-I of Pune Cantt office, Arun Kumar.

In this connection, to know various amendments of EPF Scheme, Regional PF Commissioner-II Atul Kotkar has taken a Webinar in Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and HR Professional Groups. Maximum employers attended Webinar with queries in this regard and to know the latest amendment of the scheme to disseminate to all EPF employees of the establishment.
