Pune: A 48-year-old court bailiff was arrested on Saturday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune unit, for allegedly accepting Rs 2.5 lakh bribe for helping a complainant in a civil case.
The court had ordered to take possession of the complainant’s property.
The accused bailiff, Manohar Kamble, who worked with the small causes court, had promised to help the complainant in filing an objection to the order and had demanded the bribe money.
At around 1.30 pm on Saturday, ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe money at a petrol pump near the PMC building.
Also, an FIR has now been registered against Kamble with Shivajinagar police station for offences under
relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Superintendent of Police (ACB - Pune range) Rajesh Bansode has appealed to people to approach the ACB if any government employee demands bribe from them.
