PUNE: The youths in the city, who voted for the first time, said their vote was for highlighting issues like better infrastructure, educational opportunities and employment in the state.
Ameya Uttekar (18), resident of Dhanori, Vadgaon Sheri said, “I voted for better infrastructure such as better roads, cheaper electricity and proper water supply.”
Rutuja Gaikwad (23), from the Shivajinagar onstituency said, “This was the first time that I voted, and I expect that the employment ratio will be increased during the tenure of the next government.”
Nupur Tikar (20), a BBA student of Garware College said, “I have researched about the candidates and about their educational qualification. The increasing unemployment was a big concern for everyone, so whosoever wins, they should work for creating employment and also basic infrastructure in Wanawadi like street lights as in the evening it’s too dark.”
Archana Deshpande, (20), from Navi Sangvi said, “I am very excited to vote as this was my first time. Being an NSS volunteer, I am involved in creating awareness about voting but got goosebumps while actually voting. I voted for having better educational opportunities in the country. I feel that whichever goverment comes to power, they should provide maximum attention and allot funds for education.”
Payal Jadhav, (20) voter in Vadgaon Sheri constituency said, “I am voting to choose a local representative as I do not believe in choosing a candidate based on a national face.”
