PUNE: Continuous rainfall since Saturday afternoon has disrupted lives of residents living in Baner and Balewadi societies. Waterlogging of more than six feet has taken place in Prathamesh Society situated at Balewadi Phata and Saidutta society in Baner.
Residents living in these two societies had to vacate their houses as rainwater entered the houses. Vaishali Kirloskar, a resident of plot number 40, Prathamesh Park, said, “This is the first time such an incident has taken place in our society. From early morning on Saturday, the rainwater started entering our houses and neighbouring bungalows. The rainwater had reached the first floor of our bungalow. The water level was up to eight feet high. We could see snakes in our hall room.”
“Since the situation has worsened, I had to take my two children to the bungalow behind ours. However, soon, we had to leave the entire society as the water level was further rising,” Kirloskar further added.
A similar incident took place at Saidutta society in Baner where residents of the society had to vacate their flats. Rajesh Deshpande, a resident of Saidutta society, said, “There are seven buildings in our society. From morning 6 am, the water level started rising and it had increased to more than six feet by afternoon. I had to leave with my family to my other house in Baner.” Deshpande also stated that Prime Panash society situated in Baner is also facing similar situations.
